Faisal Islamic Bank announced, on Tuesday 10 August 2021, in a press conference held at the Al-Faisal Cultural Center, the launch of MasterCard payment service, as the first Sudanese bank to obtain an issuance license from Mastercard.
The press conference was covered by various media platforms, and attended by representatives of other counterparts, as well as the participation of a MasterCard manager in East Africa.
“We are delighted to have partnered with Mastercard and Network International on achieving this huge milestone, which will enable the Bank’s customers to withdraw funds from ATMs globally, shop online, and transact at millions of merchants around the world that accept Mastercard payment cards” said Moawia Ahmed Elamin, CEO of Faisal Islamic Bank. He added that FIB is fully committed to broadening and growing the payments landscape in Sudan, which will have a positive impact on the economic growth of our nation.
Mr. Moawia pointed out that the bank's customers can now apply for MasterCard service by visiting the Global Cards Center in the bank's branch in Riyadh, explaining that the service will be available soon in the bank's other branches.
